DARKROOM

Basic photography experience required

Photography School of Niki Spartali in Rhodes, Greece

Day:

Every Saturday

Time:

10:00 - 13:00

New term starts:

November 7, 2026

The darkroom is the place where images of the past used to take shape. It is no longer commonly used by photographers, as digital image editing on computers has largely replaced it. However, it remains one of the most important elements of traditional photography.

Through this course, we will learn how a darkroom functions, the process of developing black-and-white film, and printing it onto photographic paper. We will mix chemical solutions, measure their temperature, and use timed agitation to develop the film. Working with light and time, we will see our photographs come to life before our eyes on photographic paper.

The darkroom is fully equipped with all the necessary materials for each participant to work individually and learn how to develop and print their own photographs.

Who is it for

The Darkroom course is aimed at individuals who want to learn the classic process of developing and printing a photograph from film, just as it was done in the past.
