LUMINOUS

Advanced – prior course attendance required

Photography School of Niki Spartali in Rhodes, Greece

Day:

Every Wednesday

Time:

20:00 - 22:00

New term starts:

October 7, 2026

Luminous was created out of the need to provide a stable point of reference for those who wish to continue their photographic journey beyond the completion of a course cycle. It is not a class that concludes at the end of the academic year, but a continuing community, in which many members participate for several years, evolving together.

Within this framework, technical knowledge—such as composition, lighting, and the use of equipment—is considered a tool of expression. The focus shifts toward the development of a personal photographic vision, the creation of bodies of work with conceptual coherence, and a deeper exploration of each participant’s photographic language.

The group is based on practical exercises, excursions, presentations, discussions, and individual or collective photographic projects. The aim is for members to experiment with different approaches, develop work with a personal character, and broaden the way they think about and use photography. Each year follows a different direction, allowing even long-term members to continue discovering new ways of expression.

Luminous has gradually evolved into a space of collaboration, mutual support, and meaningful exchange of ideas. For this reason, the inclusion of new members takes place gradually and with careful attention to preserving the atmosphere of trust, respect, and cooperation that has been built over the years. The evaluation is based not only on a person’s photographic background, but also on their willingness to function as part of a community, where collective work takes precedence over individual visibility.

Who is it for

The group is aimed at individuals who have mastered the technical elements and basic principles of photography. It is for photographers who seek, through collaboration and group work, to creatively activate their imagination and further develop their artistic inclination.

Duration

Equipment

You need to have a camera and a tripod.

Conditions

Joining Luminous is not an automatic continuation of the workshop courses. It requires prior participation in at least one advanced course of the Workshop (Photography II, Portrait, etc.), as well as a personal discussion with the workshop coordinator, during which a sample of the applicant’s photographic work is presented.
The purpose of this process is to ensure that expectations and the group’s philosophy are aligned, so that the atmosphere that defines the group can be preserved.
