The tree and I
The 5th Rhodes Festival of Artistic Creation took place in August 2021, under the theme “The Natural Environment.”
The theme was chosen as a tribute to Thanasis Anapolitanos – activist and civil engineer – for his invaluable contribution to environmental protection and his support of culture.

This is I and I Exist...
I wake up, I breathe, I move, I live...
My future is undefined,
My existence is closely connected to
the earth by a thread,
Earth... the same that gave birth to
and raised thousands like me.
I want to continue to exist, to breathe,
to move and to live.
But it is not possible without you
giving me air
Without you standing proud
In the heat of the sun in the summer,
in the cold and the rain in the winter,
Without you who helps me breathe.
And I?
I burn you, I uproot you,
I abruptly cut your tie with the earth
I leave you dead, all alone.
I. I. I!
Zero empathy.
Time of hope…
Silence.
